Summary: 

CJB's Chemical Packaging Manager is responsible for safely and efficiently managing wet and dry packaging operations and personnel to produce products meeting customer expectations.  The Packaging Manager is responsible for all packaging operations on both first and second shifts. He/she must be comfortable making job assignments, following up, and making recommendations to the Operations Manager.  The manager must demonstrate a pro-active approach to safety and quality.

 Essential Duties and Responsibilities:  Other Duties may be assigned.

  1. Safety / Environmental
    1. Responsible for managing safety and environmental compliance to policies. Takes necessary measures to resolve any issues and implements corrective actions to reduce risk of recurrence. Timely communicates issues, incidents, corrective actions to appropriate levels of the organization.  
  2. Reporting
    1. Ensuring the timely and accurate completion of packaging sheets.
    2. Time card review.
    3. Yield tracking.
    4. Packaging Efficiency Tracking.
  3. Other Duties / Responsibilities
    1. Plans, posts, and manages daily work assignments for packaging employees.
    2. Works with Production Scheduler/ Manufacturing Manager to determine manpower requirements in relation to daily production requirements.
    3. Ensuring packaging materials are available for efficient operations.
    4. Works with other managers, supervisors, and maintenance personnel to create and maintain a safe work environment.
    5. Ensuring accurate end of run counts.
    6. Responsible for proper maintenance and operation of packaging equipment.
    7. Ensuring Housekeeping expectations are kept
    8. Ensuring quality packaging requirements are met.
    9. Ensuring packaging equipment cleanouts meet customer and FIFRA requirements.
    10. Responsible for incident investigations, root cause analyses, and corrective actions.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

The Packaging Manager supervises the Packaging Operators and temporary personnel which will include 15-50 people depending on production requirements.

Qualification requirements:

Education and/or Experience:

BS with 5 years progressively higher responsibilities in supervision and/or management preferred. 8 plus years of experience with progressively higher supervision and/or management responsibilities will be considered in lieu of postsecondary education.  Work Keys assessment preferred.

Language Skills:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret Bills of Lading, Purchase Orders, MSDSs, manufacturing sheets, and packaging sheets.  Ability to effectively communicate with coworkers and visitors.

 Mathematical Skills:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to interpret bar graphs.  Ability to read and interpret scales.
