CJB Applied Technologies is a sister company of CJB Industries.  Both are locally owned and operated in Valdosta, GA. 


Summary:  Lab Technician is responsible for assisting with laboratory and pilot scale production of experimental formulations to meet customer specifications. Specifically, the Lab Technician will be responsible for much of the analytical validation of products.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:  Other Duties may be assigned.

  1. Follow recommended PPE and safety protocols for both laboratory and pilot plant operations.
  2. Keep lab clean and organized.
  3. Obtain samples from the production process and/or raw materials, as required.
  4. Read, interpret, and follow manufacturing and packaging instruction sheets.
  5. Assists in operations of both herbicide and fungicide pilot plant equipment, including driving a forklift, charging batches, operating mills, and packaging.
  6. Perform physical testing of products.
  7. Perform chemical testing of products including running an HPLC and other analytical equipment.
  8. Record results of testing on manufacturing sheets, lab notebook, and lab software.
  9. Work safely and comfortably with chemicals and biologicals possibly including hazardous materials.

 

Qualification requirements:

Education and/or Experience:
Minimum of B.S. Degree, preferably a chemistry or chemistry related degree or equivalent relevant industrial experience. A minimum of 2-3 years of experience in a manufacturing lab. HPLC experience is required. Georgia Work Ready Test required.

Computer Skills:
Competent with Excel and other MS Office software. 

Language Skills:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret MSDSs. Ability to effectively communicate verbally with co-workers, customers, and visitors.

Mathematical Skills:
Calculus 1 and statistics are recommended. Other math courses will be considered. Ability to interpret graphs. Ability to read and interpret scales.

Person must be able to work wearing appropriate PPE including gloves, safety glasses, and respirator if required.

Performance of this job will be evaluated quarterly by the designated supervisor or manager.
