Summary:  CJB's lab technician role is a professional role for someone holding a Bachelors of Science degree, preferably focused in chemistry or biology.  The role plays a critical function in assuring products meet customer specifications through testing using various instruments and communication with both internal and external customers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:  Other Duties may be assigned.

  1. Read, interpret, and explain manufacturing and packaging instruction sheets.
  2. Assign and record lot numbers.
  3. Create and Print Manufacturing Sheets for batching needs.
  4. Obtain samples from the production process and/or raw materials, as required.
  5. Maintain organized inventory of retain samples.
  6. Perform physical testing of products.
  7. Perform chemical testing of products.
  8. Record results of testing on manufacturing sheets, lab notebook, and lab software.
  9. Keep lab clean and organized.
  10. Be available to work varying shifts as customer and production needs change.
  11. Dispose of waste materials properly.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Lab technicians may be responsible for assisting with training and supervision of temporary or new employees.

Education and/or Experience:

B.S. Degree required. Preferably a chemistry or chemistry related degree or biology degree.  Work Ready Test required.  Minimum Scores: Graphic Literacy: 5, Applied Mathematics: 6, Workplace Documents: 6

 

Language Skills:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret packaging sheets and MSDSs.  Ability to effectively communicate with co-workers and visitors.

 

Mathematical Skills:

Calculus 1 is recommended.  Other math courses will be considered.  Ability to interpret graphs.  Ability to read and interpret scales.
